I recently received a gift of these goodies from a friend of mine. She’s the third generation of this recipe favorite and she knows how to get straight to my heart…FOOD! These are now on my recipe fav list too – Thanks Lynette, Grams would be proud!! xxoo
Fruit and Nut Oatmeal Chewies
1/3 cup wheat germ
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1 1/2 cup old-fashioned rolled oats (uncooked)
1 cup chopped dried apricots OR 1 cup dried mixed fruit
1/3 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup raisins
Mix all above ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup honey
Melt butter, br. sugar and honey in a medium-sized sauce pan and bring to a boil. Simmer 4 minutes, stirring continually. Remove from heat and add fruit/nut mixture. Press into a greased 8×8 pan until cooled and set. Remove from pan and cut into squares.
